  • This is a PDF knitting pattern.

Select eight colors of fingering weight yarn to knit this stranded colorwork hat. The hat begins with twisted ribbing knitted in the round and then folded to form a double-thick ribbed hem. Triangles in stranded colorwork form the body of the hat for a bold geometric effect. Decreases spiral toward the top of the hat. Dive into your stash or try some color pop skeins of West Wool Bicycle to defend yourself against the shivers.

  • West Wool Bicycle (100% South American Merino Wool; 191yds / 175m per 50g skein)

Color A - Koi (bright orange Ribbed Brim)
    Color B - Cobalt (blue)
Color C - Celeriac (lightest color)
Color D - Minty (bright green)
Color E - Dijon (mustard yellow)
Color F - Mulberry (darkest color)
Color G - Starfish (peachy coral)
    Color H - Brackish (turquoise)

I used West Wool Glowhair in Tangerine held together with color A (Bicycle in Koi) for a fluffy orange mohair marl in the Ribbed Brim. This is optional. If you want a fluffy brim, hold one strand of lace weight mohair silk together with your fingering weight wool during the Color A ribbed brim.
