Dive into your stash to knit this DK weight stashbusting dog sweater. Two-color syncopated brioche filled the fabric of this top-down seamless project. This sweater is designed for dogs of all sizes ranging from petite pups like Chihuahuas and Dachshunds to Frenchies, Labradors, and even Great Danes! Choose between 9 sizes in the pattern and follow the top-down instructions with lots of notes on how to customize the sizes and length of the pattern to fit your dog. The neckline begins with an I-cord cast on with increases shaping the back of the sweater as it contours around the shoulders, resulting in cute little sleeves. The body continues in the round with notes on how to customize the length of the body. The shape is naturally longer on the back and shorter on the belly with extra short rows to make the back of sweater even longer. Size 3 shown on the beige French Bulldog named Bobble with an actual Girth (chest) circumference of 16.5″ / 42cm.

Finished Measurements
12 (16, 18, 22, 26) (30, 34, 38, 42)″ / 30 (41, 46, 56, 66) (76, 86, 97, 107)cm Girth (chest) circumference (measured around the thickest part of their chest). Measurements taken after blocking.
The length is customizable. Refer to the schematic illustrations for the other measurements. The pattern includes notes where you can customize the sizes of the sweater to fit your pup. The smaller sizes are designed for petite pups like Chihuahuas, Shih Tzus, and little Terriers and the sizes increase to fit breeds ranging from French Bulldogs and Dachsunds to Boxers, Labradors, and Great Danes. If your dog’s Girth/chest circumference measures more than 44″ / 1cm, then this pattern is easy to customize by adding more increase rounds for a larger size. You can also adjust your needle size to get a smaller or larger size.
I recommend selecting a size that is approximately 1″ / 2.5cm or 2″ / 5cm larger than your dog’s actual chest circumference for a fit with a little bit of extra wiggle room or select the size that matches your dog’s exact chest circumference for a fitted sweater. If you plan to wear the sweater on top of a harness most of the time, then measure your dog while wearing the harness.
For the best measuring results, use a soft tape measure.
Brioche ribbing is very stretchy so the overall circumference of the sweater can stretch up to 6″ / 15cm more to fit your dog as it grows.
