  Choose four colors of Aran weight yarn and fade them together for this beginner-friendly cowl pattern. The cowl is knit flat and then seamed together at the end for an infinity-style cowl. The waves are created with yarn over increases and decreases framed by I-cord edges. The length is customizable, so you can also knit this pattern with DK or worsted weight yarn. Enjoy this cozy and warm winter accessory!

  DK weight yarn will work for this cowl as well for a slightly narrower cowl. You can customize the circumference of the cowl by knitting fewer or more pattern repeats.

  US 8 / 5mm circular in 40″ / 100cm length or size needed to obtain gauge

  Gauge
  15 sts & 32 rows = 4″ / 10cm in stockinette stitch with purl ridges
  
  Gauge Swatch
  CO 20 sts.
  
  Row 1 (RS): K all sts.
  Row 2 (WS): P all sts.
  Row 3 (RS): K all sts.
  Row 4 (WS): K all sts.
  
  Repeat Rows 1 – 4 until the swatch is your desired size. Don’t worry if your gauge isn’t exactly like mine. If you are within 1 or 2 sts of my gauge, then you will achieve a similarly sized cowl.
