  • This is a PDF knitting pattern

This circular blanket was inspired by the Slipstravaganza shawl from the Westknits Mystery Shawl KAL 2020.

Choose four colors of DK weight yarn and begin the blanket in the center as you increase toward the border. Slip stitch honeycombs expand into bubble stitches, which are both surprisingly simple to knit. Stop after the bubbles for a small blanket, or continue with more slipped stitches and chevrons for a large statement piece. You only have to work with one color at a time throughout the entire project.

The large size is perfect for a big bedspread and the small size makes a lovely decorative throw.

  • Sizes
    Small (Large)

    Finished Measurements
    52 (86.5)” / 132 (220)cm diameter.
    Measurements taken after blocking.

The Small Size, shown in the bright multi-color sample, features a picot hem after the bubble section. It does not include the chevron border like the Large Size.

    Yardage
    Small Size
    MC - 600yds / 549m
    CC1 - 420yds / 384m
    CC2 - 480yds / 439m
    CC3 - 360yds / 329m

The pattern is written for 3 CC’s, but the Small Size sample features more colors for a scrappy color pop effect. There are notes throughout the pattern to help you estimate how much yarn you need for each section.

    Large Size
    MC - 1100yds / 1006m
    CC1 - 1000yds / 914m
    CC2 - 950yds / 869m
    CC3 - 1000yds / 914m

If you are using West Wool Tandem, you will need…
    MC - 3 (5) skeins
    CC1 - 2 (4) skeins
    CC2 - 2 (4) skeins
    CC3 - 2 (4) skeins

    Needles
Two pair US 6 / 4mm in 60” / 150cm length or size needed to obtain gauge

The end of the blanket has very long rows, so you may want to use 2 or 3 long circular needles to comfortably knit all the stitches if you don’t have a very long circular needle.

    Notions
186 stitch markers for the large size, tapestry needle

The stitch markers are used for the large size border to help with the increases and decreases. You can tie scraps of yarn into little loops and use those as stitch markers.

    Gauge
    22 sts & 42 rows = 4” / 10cm in garter stitch before blocking
