Akimbo is a triangular shawl, starting at the neck edge with easy garter stitch and finishing with a graphic chevron pattern. The chevron section creates a scalloped border with crisp edges while a contrasting color adds a burst of visual interest. Written row by row instructions are provided in this pattern as well as a chart for the chevron colorwork section.
Finished Measurements 18″ / 46cm from cast on, along center stitch, to bind off. 50″ / 127cm wingspan, along edge stitches. Measurements taken after blocking.
Yardage Requirements MC - about 275 yds CC - about 160 yds
Needles US 4 / 3.5mm 32″ circular
Notions 2 stitch markers, tapestry needle
Gauge 22 sts = 4″/10cm in garter stitch
Pattern Notes A different size can easily be achieved by choosing another yarn weight and/or needle size. The edges of this shawl tend to be tight, especially in Section 2 – Chevron. Maintain loose tension on the first stitch of each row so that the edges are flexible enough to stretch and block properly.
