    Trees are scarce in Iceland but you can find silvery white birches. You can even sample teas and liquors made with birch branches! They have an earthy taste and make you feel as though you’re deep in the woods, inhaling cold fragrant air. I knit this hat as a tribute to these wintry trees.

    16” US 8 / 5.0mm circular, set of 4 or 5 US 8 / 5.0mm double pointed needles (DPNs) or size needed to obtain gauge

    18 sts & 24 rows = 4” / 10cm in Stockinette stitch

    4 stitch marker (one will serve as the beginning of round marker, so it might be helpful if it looked different than the others), tapestry needle
